60 Martin Place

The Sydney skyline is set to get a curvy new $750 million glass-fronted skyscraper, complete with public dining and event spaces, on the site of the 1960s-vintage Westpac building at the eastern end of Martin Place in the CBD.

Co-owned by Investa Property and Gwynvill, the 32-storey, 40,000 square metre office tower the old bank site, which sits adjacent to the heritage-listed St Stephen’s Uniting Church, will be transformed into a modern building, but with a sandstone podium designed to work with the City of Sydney’s demands for high quality, sustainable commercial office buildings that retain a strong relationship to Martin Place.

According to HASSELL’s head of design architecture, Tony Grist, ‘The copper spire of the church has been a strong influence on the form of the new tower’. Sitting atop a sandstone podium, the top-heavy tower curves away from the church, with smaller floor plates at the lower levels giving it breathing space and allowing the image of the spire to be reflected and scattered in the façade.
Serving as the independent BIM manager, Ridley’s role is to implement a coordination strategy during the schematic design, design development and construction phases of the project. Working together with Investa, Gwynvill Group and the contractor group Lendlease, Ridley will establish the BIM management plan, Revit execution pan, and conduct 4D modelling for construction. Longer term project requirements will include developing a BIM enabled FM solution in partnership with Investa Facility Group to enhance the operations and management post construction phase.
